Default 2GS wedge bulb question

I just got a 99 GS and one of the wedge bulbs in the highbeam housing was burnt out so I just pulled the other one for now to maintain symmetry, plus it looked horribly yellow.

I read the entire wedge bulb thread stickied at the top and still had a question that could hopefully be answered quicker here.

There was vague mention of these lighting the road a little bit, do they actually make a difference?

I've got stock HID's and noticed a "hole" in the lane in front of me, the beam pattern kinda flared out farther on each side of the car but didn't seem to range out as far directly in front. It seemed kinda strange to me, then I remembered the missing wedge bulbs, it would be great if they would fill in this spot a little bit but I have to wonder how much these little bulbs could do.

TIA, I'm hoping to get an answer to this before I decide what to put in there.

They won't light up the road very much. They're tiny bulbs.
