I think some high output LEDs would be more realistic.

You'll be glaring like a ****. Instant ticket right there.

My friend has LEDs for his reverse and at night its already blinding. HID is unnecessary and dangerous.

IndecentSC - already did some testing on this with the 98-00 GS tails and ran them for 45-60 seconds to see how hot the housings got...

real hot and i smelled the plastic get into that magical moment right before it starts melting. needless to say- that's hotter than what i'd care for them to get if i had to throw the car in reverse for more than 45 seconds. i know it's not often that someone reverses for more than 45 seconds but there's always that once or twice where I know i'll need them to be on and i'll melt my housings.

I am thinking about trying it on my Tahoe. For as often the back up lights are actually one, I thought it was a pretty cool idea. I know it will glare, but I don't plan on driving down the street in reverse.

it would be easier to get a set of piaa reverse bulbs. using HID's takes time for warmup + flickering on and off will eventually damage the ballast or shorten the life of the bulb. how long would the reverse light be on anyway? the max 15-20 seconds.

I've seen it done on an Acura TL and I was actually debating doing it myself.

I think I heard something about the newer Crysler 300's having HIDs in the the reverse from the factory. Saw a listing on auto trader and that option was listed on two different 300's, could have been a error though...

I have polarg hyperwhite bulbs in my SC, but the way the bulb is positioned it doesn't really help with output. Its actually worse then the stock ones in term of light output, but it does look cool at night.

Polargs on the left and stock on the right
