I am going to have to agree with you there. I was going to go with the Q45 retro first, but you guys convinced me on the LS430 output. I am happy with my retro, but I also wouldn't mind rocking some Q45s.

By the way, did you see my question about the day time running lights at hidp? What bulbs are you using for these? I hate the stockers.

URDONE: I am using the factory ones so far but eventually will do some sort of LED marker for the DRLs.

I am working on something of the following sort, use the GS bezel and arrange LEDs in the following pattern.

Or the following pattern with 21 LEDS.

As far as mounting the Hella Gen 3s is considered, well I was able to use the factory mounting holes along a bracket that I made using an aluminum sheet from home depot. Its sturdy and covers only as much space as the factory Denso would have . It looks kinda cheap lol thats because it is, the sheet was 5 bucks and took me 30 mins to make the brackets, not bad i'd say considering the alternative in which you would have to zip tie the ballasts some where.

Awesome man. Let me know what you do with the DRLs. I like that little bracket you made. Very smart idea. I will keep this in mind for when I decide to redo mine. I just wish it wasn't so f-in cold here Chicago now. I want to get started already.

If you want to mount those ballast, you should really consider these.

The good thing about using those ballast is that they are the same body as aftermarket ballasts. Therefore if you can find someone w/ aftermarket hids that don't use the supplied brackets, you can use them for your retro. On my bro's SC300, i have a set of aftermarket brackets that i used to secure his Hella Gen 3 Ballasts. The retro looks good. I do agree, the ls430 output is uncomparable. I love it in my IS300.

^^ I considered those but didnt want to drill in the headlight to mount them, thats why I used the aluminum sheet, worked out great cause I was able to use the factory mounting holes.
