LS license Plate lights

How do you change the license plate lights on a 90 ls? Do i have to take off the carpeted backing on the inside of the trunk and get to it that way? Or just take out the 4 screws about the license plate?

yes pull off the 4 screws on the outside and put leds in that breezy :]
