Default Question about connecting HIDs

do all aftermarket HID kits require hooking up to the battery? are there any that just plug into existing plugs?

To be on the safe side, it is better to hook it up to the battery to draw power from there.

If you draw power directly from the factory sockets, you can short something out because of all the voltage the HID ballast pulls during startup.

I dont know what kind of kit you have, but most aftermarket kits are just plug and play using the factory harness. You dont need to power them from your battery.

get a kit with the wire that connects to the battery. you'll be glad you did.

this guy selling mcculloch kits (which don't come with a wire that connects to your battery) actually posted a write up on how to make a wire harness so you don't fry your stuff. lol.

dunno about you but i'd rather just get a kit with a harness already made...
