Default Looking for Stock -- HID Foglight Mod Basics

Hey everybody, I've done some reading on here regarding mods from stock foglights to hid fogs but the info seems a little more advanced than i need right now. Does anybody have a link that explains the basics?

The process? The cost? Difficulty? etc.

I am starting from square one and just want to learn a little more about installling a HID kit for my fogs in my '01 ES. I've comtemplated installing the Silverstars for my fogs in the meantime (unless someone talks me out of it

I mean i'm reading about ballasts, harnesses etc. and i need to understand the lingo so to speak, before i research any further. ANY help would be awesome, especially any CL's that have done the mod. Cheers and thanks

All you need is a H3 Xenon conversion kit, it includes everything you need to upgrade the Fogs to Xenon.

Vassey50 -

It's super easy man.

If you get a quality kit like the ones off of XenonDepot.com you will get a wire harness that allows the power for the ballasts to be drawn from your battery instead of your headlight plug. Your OEM headlight plug will be used to trigger a relay that is wired inline to your battery.

Typical connections with said wire harness:

1) Power wire to (+) terminal on battery
2) Ground wire to (-) terminal on battery
3) Remote turn on plug that connects to your OEM H3 foglight plug
4) Connection to ballast for left fog light
5) Connection to ballast for right fog light.

And you're done!!

Good luck man.

Cheers, thanks for the help, both of you. I think i'm getting closer to being confident enough to do such an install. I've never messed with anything mechanical/electrical on the car, as such, I am a little hesitant to do the mod even though i really want to do it. If you guys have any links to a step my step (maybe someone on here has done it on an ES) pls pass it on. I'd rather do the HID foglight versus go the easy Silverstar route.

Getting closer...

THX,
V
