what does a relay do?

 

so i found the problem with the hid (several months later). that fat black piece that the relay harness plugs into is broken or something. on mine, its labeled shaun coung relay or something like that. it still works, i just have to play around with it everytime i turn my headlights on. i was looking to buy a replacement piece instead of the whole relay kit but its impossible to find. is buying this whole wire set my only option?

 

I've got a spare relay sitting around from an old HID kit. Send me your address and you can just have it.

 

IS it the relay that is broken or is it the part that the relay plugs into?

 

how can i tell? there's two relays, one for each side, right? i unplugged each one a switched it, they both work on one of the relays but cuts in and out on the other one, so i believe that it is the relay, right? where would i find just the relay?
