Default driver's side HID going out

Just got mine installed (McCulloch 5000K HID Kit). First day I take the car out for a drive with them installed, the driver's side goes out as I am pulling out of the parking lot on my way home. I wait a minute or two, then turn them back on (both are lit now). 10 minutes later I am on my driveway, ready to take some comparison pictures- driver's side goes out again. Today I checked the connections on that side- it all seemed snug. What worries me most is I am going to be taking the car on a long trip in a few days and the headlights have got to work. Any ideas what the problem is?

trouble shoot.Start with the bulb. Try switching the bulbs from one side to the other to see if the problem is still there. If it is, then try switching the ballasts.

Check fuses for your headlight. make sure they're #20fuse also, I have friend who owns one of McCulloch kits and the problems are the same as yours. I Solve his problem by changing the fuse and also changing his battery.

if chaning the fuse help then by all means do that.

if the problem presist then try turning on the HiD while the car is in motion.

usually when the car is in motion @ about 2000-2500rpm is when the alternator is running at full amperage. so power circulate all around and charges the battery.

in addition, if you have a voltage meter, check how much amps and or volts you are losing when the HiD are on. and i think you can get it check at a local car shop or battery shop.

the alternator should be running at about 12-14volts.

correct me anyone if i am wrong.

Well, todays nighttime driving ended up like this: I took the advise and turned on lights when I was in motion. All is good, but a while later while driving I noticed the driver's side went out again and came back on later.

I will check out the fuses tomorrow and if time permits, the alternator.

Yep take a look at the fuses. You NEED to change your fuses to 20 amp for the headlights. (they came supplied in my kit)

After mounting the driver's side ballast a little differently and changing the headlight fuses to 20s, I can't say I saw either side go out this time. I'm still a bit cautious about turning them on right away as soon as the car is started up (mainly due to the fact that I had headlight dimming when braking with the old halogens (alternator?) and it's still noticeable when only the parking lights are set).

Thanks very much for the help all!
