Default GE Nighthawk headlights

Alright, so my dad's Camry's left bulb (low beam) blew out. I can't afford an HID kit so I decided to go with HP halogens. I think I've asked this before but I don't know a place that sells the PIAA. I had a choice between the Nighthawks and the Silverstars. Having experienced the short lifespan of the Silverstars on my Prius, I decided to go with the Nighthawks. They have a purple tint to it when I looked at the Camry after installation.

I realise I probably can't return it (and probably should've asked before purchasing but I'm gonna ask anyway).

How are these bulbs? Has anyone had any experience with them?

So does anyone have an opinion about these? I am replacing my bulbs soon (changing parking light to LED so I figured while I'm in there...)

sylvania silverstars are pretty damn good bulbs... personally, i'd run piaa or sylvania over GE bulbs... actually, i'm thinking about buying a set of polarg white/bluish 9005's for the DRL/hi beams on my 01 GS... we'll see how those look...

They are (the Silverstars) except on a wet, black surface. Also, both sides blew out (one at 10 mths, the other at 11 mths). They're used as DRLs and headlights (H3/9003 type).

i've seen so many people post about silverstars. before i got my hids for my car, my dad was telling me about the silverstars. but for $40 USD, i'd rather put that money towards an hid kit so i did.

good luck man. the silverstars are money. just return this set and tell them the light output sucks.

The Nighthawks come in somewhere below the Silverstars. They are much whiter than regular halogens, but not as white as the SSs. Have a car that had one SS and one regular. When the regular halogen burned out, replaced it with a Nighthawk. Noticeably yellower than the SS.

Thanks for the input!

But do they last longer?

The thing is I've heard people saying how long theirs last. I'm not doubting them but it also depends on how often you have the low beams on.

e.g. on my Prius, it's on every time since it's a 9003-type bulb which means it's the low AND the high beams and since I'm in Canada, it's also the DRLs.

well, i've had the nighthawks for just over 2 months and theyre still good! in the CR-V, the SS lasted about 1 year so i expect the NH to last atleast as long. i can back to you in 1 year...
