When i got out my car today in my garage a coworkker noticed that one of my headlights ('98 GS400 stock HID) wasnt on ...I immediately called the dealer to see when i could come in to get the bulb replaced, they said "now" so something told me to ask the prioce and thats when I got the shock of my life 435.00 installed...I know you have to pay to play but really WOW! Does anyone know where i can get a bulb for less than my 1st born, id appreciate any help...
Do not take it to the dealer! They assume most people think HID systems cost a lot to repair. Well, it is compared to halogens, but $400 for a bulb change is outrageous. You can find a pair on ebay for $100-150 new. Or a used set for $40-50. Changing a HID bulb is not that much different than a halogen. There's just one more dust cover on the headlight housing.
Amazingly I did the tap thing and it worked but now its completely gone nothing... I got the dealership 2 check my wiring its good no shorts or anything so now im back to ebay...
change these out for 6000k, it will look much nicer than 4100K. since it's going to be hard to match your current 4100K, you should just change out both for 6000K.
if you have large hands, swopping out the bulbs will be challenging.
