Question Legal

I'm new to this HID stuff, but was told that HID kits are illegal on the street. Is this true and will I be getting myself into trouble with the law? I've already place an order for the 4300 kit from Xenondepot.com

Up to 8000K is legal from what I've heard. I was debating whether to get 6000K ot 8000K
as 8000K is more blueish but after seeing some pictures of the MTEC 6000K, I felt in love
with the color. The pic may seem a bit blue but in person, it's bright white with blue tint.
so in close range, the color is white but at a certain distance, the color mixes with a bit of
blue and skyblue or something like that. I am very pleased with this Kit.
