Default HID Kits For An IS250??

Hey Everyone

I've been doing some research online since I got my new IS in regard to putting HID in the car, and I came across your club, very glad I did in fact.

Maybe you guy can pass along some info that you may know of, heard of, see, anything..... I need to put HID in this car, it's the only thing it's missing, esp. being it was in my '04 IS, I can't go back to not having it, I can't see a thing!...haha.

Can anyone pass along any info in regard to kits? I know of the Philips H11 Kit, and honestly, that is the only one I wanna put in. But, mainly, is it safe to perfrom such an upgrade being it didn't come factory installed, as the wiring is totally different. I've also been hearing Daytime Running Lights will cause problems/conflicts in an aftermarket kit.

What about keeping it simple...i.e. PIAA H11 Bulbs. Does anyone have any knowledge/expierience with these, or can anyone offer suggestions as to which ones to get.

Any help you guys can pass along would be great! BTW, I live in teh Tampa, Florida area, so if anyone is from the area, already having made these same upgrade, please let me know where/how?

Best Regards, Anthony

Wait, you have projectors right? If you do and these are the brand new Lexus headlights, I would start off with an HID kit first and see how you like it. It should be sufficient for what you're looking to do. Later on I would grab a set of IS350 HID headlamps once they hit the aftermarket and you can nab a set from www.car-parts.com for cheap.

check places like www.hidplanet.com
www.xenondepot.com and do a search for HID kit. In fact look into the HID kit thread going on right now in the GX470 section. That'll help you get right on track. As for wiring, the kit comes with all you need to hook the HID into your car in about 15 mins or less

Now the part about the DRL, I'm not too sure about. I doubt disconnecting the DRL is part of the process since the premise of an HID kit is an actial HID bulb rebased to fit your car's standard headlight hole, attached to that are wires that plug into the bulb on one end and a harness plug that fits the IS250's H11 headlamp plugs. Then the connections to the battery terminals for power and thats it. DRLs are the high beams running at 1/4 power. I wouldn't disconnect them since you would loose high beam function if that makes sense

Default Hid Is250

I want to order the Philips 4300k Kit from XenonDepot, but all I've been hearing is the problems it will cause with the DRL and "Auto On" light system.

They say the DRL cause the HID's to flicker, due to not all 12V going to the HID ballest to ignite the HID lamps. And, they say you can't use the "Auto On" funtion with your lighting system either.

I don't kow.....I just wanna now my IS will be safe in all aspects. The last thing I wanna do is burn up and/or damage teh eletrical system in anyway, which voids the warrenty on the car as well. I wondering if I should just pick up some PIAA H11's??

The HIDs wouldn't flicker because the IS has separate bulbs for High and Low beams. The DRL uses your high-beams at 50% power so in the IS your HIDs would not be effected becasue the HIDs are wired to use the Low beams only which are either on(full-power) or off.

Has anyone, whose already installed an after market HID kit, had any problems? Does this run a risk of voiding the Lexus warrenty or damaging the car, being it was not facotry wired and installed??

like i have said before, you at most void that part of the warranty. so if you put on the kits and the wire melts, you don't get warranty of course. but if the engine blows, they still need to replace it

i had hid kits for both the headlights and foglights on my gs400, never had a problem before. as long as you do it right it should be ok
