I tried a 9 LED bulb as replacement, can't take the heat. Wish to use as Running Light on the road. What have you used, and which is brightest. Moocho thanks. Mike

First off - Welcome to the Forums! On to your question - not sure what you meant by, "can't take the heat" - as LED bulbs don't give off very much heat compared to a standard bulb?
i wonder if this will work can someone let me know LINK
Yeah it will fit - but the light output will be directional - whereas a standard bulb sends light in all directions. I believe the factory reflector was designed specifically for an incandescant bulb. A standard LED type bulb will not appear as bright.
so it would fit.. but would it have enough heat? (as in would it light up) but ur saying that standard bulb lights all around but the led is more just stright forward lighting im i right?

Exactly. Although the part about heat is just secondary. The main thing is that the light output will be low enough with the wedge style 194/168 bulb anyhow. With the LED bulb it will be even lower. If you really want alot of light - an option may be to modify the housing. On my headlights, my wedge bulbs are drowned out by the headlights. If the headlights are off you can clearly see them at night - just nothing spectacular. If you just wanted something bright for show - you could put in some strobes - that would be very bright.
Thanks guys for the advice. The heat comes from the Silver Stars etc in the same housing, thereby reducing the life of the LED. Read this is one of the forums. As stated I put a 9 unit LCD in there but it didn't last, and had all 9 LEDs pointed forward, hard to see really, but different for sure. They do make a 6 unit LED which fires one forward and five in a circle, has anyone tried this bulb. Mine is a 1995 SC400, 102,000 miles (just broken in). Any other suggestions? Moocho thanks, Mike
