Do the 2001 GS's use different housings for OEM hids vs non hids? If so where can I purchase a set of OEM lexus GS hid housing? I've search and found answers to all my questions except this one.

The HID housing is more optimal since the reflectors are meant for the additional output. The reflector is shaped differently and the shielding is also different.
The housing is a direct fit on the car but not necessarily the bulb. Most aftermarket HID kits use modified D2S bulbs and the HID housing uses a D2R bulb. I have not done this so I don't know but the people I know who went to OEM housings also got D2R bulbs and OEM ballasts. I am sure someone has done the aftermarket HID kit into OEM housing (?). The OEM ballasts also fit very nicely into the housing. The wiring is also not plug and play. Some cutting/splicing/soldering is necessary.
i have never put hid kits (9006) in the oem hid housing, but from the architecture and also the assembly on the back, i don't think it's a good choice at all
