QUESTION: 1999 gs300 wants an HID kit
i have a 1999 lexus gs300 alpine silver... it has regular halogen bulbs. i dont think it has the HID housing. which route should i take if i want to get a HID kit for around $400? do i need to buy a new housing unit? i only want phillips lights and parts. i dont know if i need to buy a new housing for the lights or if i could just plug and play. whats the life span of these lights?

HID kits sold in the States are violating the HID kit ban. Thus, you must buy them abroad....Canada, Europe, etc.....where the ban does not affect those sellers. There are a few Vendors here that sell them...check out the banner ads above each page....or just visit the Authorized Vendor section.
Expect to pay somewhere between $450 - $600 for a 9006 Philips kit....depends what color temp you're looking for. I think its safe to say that 6000K is the max you should get.
As for buying a HID housing....you can do that...but that means you will need to buy an OEM HID system (no auto-leveling) instead of an aftermarket kit.
Good luck.

i have an HID kit (4300k) that is 9006 based bulbs which should fit your car if you are interested. IMO a retrofit is always the best and most eyecatching route if i were in your situation. However if you are looking for a cheaper easier route you could just get an HID kit., which i have for sale!!
