Default Please help me on HID stuff. (for IS300)

Hi.
I drive 2004 IS300.
I want to have a blue-ish color for my low-beam light.
In order to do that, do I just need to buy a bulb, or do I need to purchase other materials as well?

And for bulb, would Xenon light bulb be ok?

Yeah.. I really don't know much about car light & HID stuff.. Please tell me in detail about it.

you just need bulbs, philips 6000k

but not those stupid xenon stuff on ebay. you need the real hid bulb d2r, a new set would be around 250 bucks

About Xenon bulbs... I saw that its price is like around $15 - $25.
What's so bad about Xenon lights? I was originally thinking about getting Xenon lights cuz they are cheap.
Also, stock ones are 4100K, right? I heard if I go over 5000K, I have higher chance on getting caught by police.. is that true?
And.... blue-ish color light only stays for like 5 minutes then turns slowly to white/yellow. If I change bulbs to blue ones, would color stay on?

I do not want to spend lots of money on it. If xenon bulbs is not an option, what should I go for? and can you tell me how much I need to change it to decent bulb? (not like ones which cost $200). Wut about Sylvania ones? Are Sylvania ones better than OEM one?

Sorry I really don't know anything about lighting stuff... so please help me and don't get grustrated if I ask you guys so many questions.

Oh boy.... Here we go...

Blue = 8000K = VERY poor lighting
purple = 6000K = looks pretty good but not brightest.
stock = 4100K = brightest

Higher color rating = more susceptible to police attention

xenon bulbs = cheap != hid bulbs.

You have HIDs. Stick with them or change to the philips 6000K ($250). You should browse some of the stickies we have.

there're two kinds of light bulb you're talking about here.
One is Xenon and Halogen. Check the sticky for more info.

The one you have is Xenon HID 4100k. You can't use halogen silverstar just for replacement. like Henry said, 6000k is way to go for bluish light

You said you want bluish look, but you're worrying about getting caught.
stick with what you have.

btw, welcome to CL

hey, no problem man, don't be afraid about asking questions, that's what this board is for -- questions and answers!

the bulbs you looking at, those are not real hid bulbs at all, and they don't even fit in your headlights! so they just wont' work at all. in order to get something that will work for your car, they are all d2r hid bulbs. and they aren't cheap. i definitely suggest good ones philips 6000k, but they come at around 250. imho that's ok price of what you get
