My parents just picked up an 01 LS430 and they'd like to replace the DRL with something that isn't yellow (closer to hid look). I believe the drl's on this car are low beams at lower power, but am not sure. If anyone has gone through this and has a bulb recommendation (and pic if possible), please let me know.
I've gone through this on my gs400 (98) where the bulb is a wedge bulb. I got a 9led replacement and it made a world of difference matching my hids. Hoping to get more of a hid look from their drl's if possible.
Thanks for any help offered. Btw, I've been wholly impressed with their LS. I had a first gen ls as my first Lexus and am stunned with the changes/improvements in the 430. Gorgeous car, incredible ride, good pickup, interior better than many homes :-)
The DRL's in Lexus vechicles are high beams running at about 40% power. That said, if you put a "superwhite" halogen bulb in the highs, it will look very blue when the DRLs are on. I'm not sure if there is a bulb that looks white when running at 40% power as well as full power.

thx
even on the GS the DRL is the high beam at 40-50% power, NOT that wedge bulbs. that bulb is only on when your headlights are on
i don't know of an aftermarket bulb that will make the drl white too. just imagine you will need a bulb that has a much higher power rating. i don't think that would happen
