I was installing some new LED bulbs in my door panels when I got to the rear ones I noticed that they were not lighting up when I opened the doors. I swapped the OEM bulbs with the LED ones but still no lights. Is there a seperate fuse for these lights?
When you open your rear doors are the dome light and map light above you on or off? If they're off, it's indicitive that your door actuator is crapping out, or is out all together. I had same problem. If I depress map light button on door that is open, the door light and dome light both come on. Some times they come on by themselves, other times not. I was told the door light switches are built into the door actuators, and that you can't replace JUST the switches. You have to do the whole thing. I remain skeptical.
When the weather cools down this fall I plan on pulling a rear door apart and removing and examining the actuator and see if I can't repair the thing myself.
If after all this ranting you still have the problem: Dome/map light DO come on when door is open, but courtesy light still doesn't, then I say check the wiring to the housing itself. I can't imagine Lexus would have a fusable circuit separately for the courtesy lights, but then I'm not Lexus technician either......
