Ok..It's been a mere week with my GS400, and now I'm ready to start tinkering and doing some small mods. I have the factory HID headlights, and the yellowish glow of the wedge headlights doesn't look "right". My search points to using the Polarg M6 bulb, which will require some "fitting". What exactly requires fitting? Can someone please give me a little better idea of the fitting part? Thanks alot!!
Any recommendation for a closer match for the high beam lights? I have a Canadian model GS, and I believe the high beam is used as our Daytime Running Light, albeit at a reduced wattage. What have other Canuckians done? Thanks!!
The Polarg M4 and M6 wedges both will fit. The only difference is that the M4 is dimmer than the M6 since the M6 is in general a much bigger bulb. The only problem with the M6 that you might find is that they are a lil harder to manouvre around the very tight spot to fit, especially since you aren't allowed to touch the bulb with your fingertips.
Most people here who have upgraded to the 6000k use successfully the LED wedges to fit them right. But usually with the stok HID system, the polarg would suffice.
I'm using M4 w/ stock HID and I think it looks great! Some do choose M6, but I've heard they have a tendency to burn out because they're out of spec I think.
I have the M6's and they look awesome! They are a tie with my chrome grille for most satisfying mod (cheap and easy yet effective).
I read here that they were tough to install and I found them a litlle tricky because they are bigger, but not that bad, it took me all of 10 minutes to put them in. If you install when the car is hot be careful not to burn yourself on the radiator.
I'm still looking for a solution to the dim DRL issue, since they are running at low voltage I'm not sure that there's anything we can do without screwing up the hi-beams.
m6 is bigger and higher power, so it's harder to fit into the small hole. it's brighter but also people say they go out easier. m4 is the stock replacement with same power rating, i have that and i love it
