I Just found out the hard way!!!
I bought a set of HID's (Factory) With Self-Leveling mech's and went to have them installed. Had the bumber off and the old halogens out when we realized that the friggin harness is different. I called Lexus to see if there was like a harness adapter kit or something...Basically, I'm beat unless anyone hear has a solution besides an aftermarket purchase. THX
I did this myself, what you have to do is splice wires and crimp, seek out DevilDog on here and he could tell you which ones go to which. Also, the autoleveling won't work, as factory installed HID GS's have sensors on the wheels or on the front and back of the car, which is done at the factory, and it's impossible for aftermarket. They don't get wired, your lights have to be manually balanced initially, you'll see a screw and level on each headlight. Stand about 25ft from your lights or take it to a parking lot and aim them at a wall to even them out.
You should have done some studies before you purchased the factory HID. It's been discussed here before. It's alomose impossible to retro-fit the factory HID to a non-HID GS. The level sensors need to be installed from the factory. Your best bet is to install them without the auto leveling
BananaGS has a great step-by-step DIY on this, and it took me no more than 2 hours total. Once you manually level the beam pattern so that it doesn't blind oncoming traffic, you're all set. I mean, most Acuras don't even offer auto-leveling, so it's not like you're being inconsiderate here.

I would try to avoid any cutting of your harness, you should make an adapter cable. Not sure about other models but my ES harness plugs look almost like the end of a two prong extention cord socket. So you can use a simple spade connecter on the harness side, and from the dealer you can purchase the actual plugs to connect with the HID's.
Some dealerships may not be able to give you a part # for the plugs either because they don't want to, or maybe they really can't. If this happens you may need to find a vehicle just like yours that has factory HID's and copy the #'s that are molded into the plugs themselves.
Also by using an adapter cable, you can easily convert your headlights back to stock, (that is if you still have them) allowing you to sell your HID system separately if you would ever sell or trade in your vehicle.
good luck!

I agree with what previous replies have said: stick with the HID housings--they have a great beam pattern. Don't worry about the electrical connections--there are work-arounds, and like others have mentioned, there are cars with factory HID that are not auto-levelling (Acura, Lincoln, to name a couple).
