Question SC300 DRLs

Has anyone ever figured out an easy way to disable the SC 300/400 DRLs (1999-2000)?

I would like the option of turning them on manually, or disconnecting after start-up. I believe they share the same lamps as the brights at reduced power.

I don't know how to disable the lights but I do suggest you leave them in place. The DRL is a safety feature and can save lives.

When all cars have them there is no longer a distinction between vehicles and the safety factor goes away.

My new Siverado SS has an override for the DRLs, so I have a choice.

Anyone who has to enter a military installation knows why DRLs are a pain- they get PO'd when you can't turn off your lights at night and blind the guard.

Actually, many drivers think because they have DRLs they don't have to turn on headlights at dusk or in the rain, so I think they are less safe.

I've can't say that I've seen the 3rd gen SC but I know the IS has a DRL module you can disconnect, but like I said, I haven't seen the 3rd gen SCs.

This does work, but the parking brake light stays on. I could ground the switch and live with the light, but seems a Lexus deserves a better fix.
