Lightbulb HID Gurus only....

Of all the hid projectors and reflectors out there, which do u think has the best beam pattern and of the projectors, which puts out the most violet color in the cuttoff pattern? So far I hear its Valeo ECE projectors and S2000 Honda DOTs that have the best lighting optics.

This thread furthers my questioning.

I was curious as to what you guys thought was the best source of HID out there. I'm actually in the process of upgrading from my soon to be for sale color modified E46 3 series projectors(Non Bixenon).
Thanks

i have the e39 and i love it! has a wide pattern and the cutoff is excellent.

BUT i love the way the S2000 flickers when driving. I can notice the flicker a mile away and KNOW that it is a S2000 coming. If you want violet, get the ECE.

Audi RS6 has the sharpest damn cutoff -- amazing to see that on the road.

I was behind the Brand New Audi A8 and Ohh my Godd look at that light output. Those projectors not only put out an insane amount of forground light but they also had a razor sharp cuttoff and purple color along the line that you have to see to believe. What kind is that cuz I want it....NOWWW Are those Valeos? IF so I'll buy them from whomever's got a set of them ASAP. ECE variety only. Thanks

Are Valeo's used in the newer Saabs? Those have a very violet cut-off. One of the projector comparison charts posted here a little bit ago compared the SC430 projectors to the S2000, but I don't know if the SC's are as colorful--they seem to have the normal white-blue-violet shift. E65 (02-up 7's) seem to have very purple flicker, haven't seen the cutoff pattern up close).

According to the auto lighting forum (http://faq.auto.light.tripod.com/car-oem-hid.htm) the A8 (03+) uses hella projectors and the A4 and RS2 valeo projectors. So I dunno...

I saw that thread before too and was wondering why the "razor sharp" valeos were fuzzy on the Z-cutoff as compared to the S2000 projectors. I was also wondering why the S2K has barely any purple in the cutoff. You would think that the ECE would be better than DOT. My guess would be that the quality of the retrofitter's work were different and contributed to the differences in the cutoffs, meaning that the guy who did a good job has the better cutoff.

A little OT but I was wondering what you guys think of the future of HIDs hold. It seems to be short lived in light of LED headlights. The only hope may be vario-xenons.
