Default Check engine light on LFA

I was randomly browsing my local dealer's YouTube page and ran across an old LFA video. While fascinated at the facts of the LFA mentioned in the video, I noticed there was a check engine light on the dashboard (usually gone after the engine starts).

Is it rare for the LFA to get a check engine light? If it does get a check engine light, what can the owner do, aside from checking the codes through the OBD port?

If you own an LFA, I think you’d be able to investigate a MIL

That was the first prototype LFA that came to the USA. Although rare, not a surprise. CEL usually indicates something related to the emission system or sensors. CEL can be read by an OBD scanner just like any modern car since 1995.

Anyone know what badge number this was? Also curious to learn that this one was repainted & reupholstered so many times. Have any owners done this to their car after taking delivery?

It did not have a badge # because it was one of the first prototypes. It started as Matte Black with White interior. Repainted Pearl White (for the "Pitch" champagne glass ad. Wrapped and painted Orange. Repained Pearl Gray with the tan interior as seen in the video. And lastly back to Matte Black. I was told it was returned back to Japan due to NHTSA rules on prototype vehicles.

I got a chance to drive this LFA several times at different tracks, as well as the hot lap I did with the late Naruse-san.
