Default Forged performance puts on "Lexus LFA dyno show"

Roy's LFA. Look at the crowd gathered to watch the dyno

You can hear the cameraman say that a 2011 stock Subaru STi on the same dyno puts down 198 wheel HP.

2012 Lexus LFA
VIN # 003

It pulled 451 horsepower at Forged Performance in Marietta, GA. on their Dyno Dynamics dyno. This dyno is known to read quite a bit lower than the other dynos in the area. Had this been on another local dyno, my best guess is close to 500 horsepower to the wheels.

If you watch behind the car in the video, you can see the peoples hair and clothes blowing from the massive amounts of exhaust this car puts out.

Forged Performance also put a teaser video up on NAGTROC for this LFA dyno event.

All I can say, combination of Roy (who two LFAs, one of which is on order) and Nissan GTR Forged Performance tuner is what Lexus could dream of as having owners of this masterpiece. They truly represent the LFA very well

of all the US owners so far i really like how roy is doing it. put it on the street, on the dyno, on the track. show it to people, talk about it... now this is how you do it. with the cars out in the market already, not much else lexus can do. it's up to the owners to keep the talk going

I no longer am putting faith in dyno numbers. Insideline has inflated numbers, which fanboys love to use. The Forged Performance dyno reads low, which fanboys make excuses for. Trap speeds consistently show it as a high 123/low 124 mph car.

I don't know who you are calling a fanboi, but trap speed has nothing to do with dyno numbers. One is a unit of power while the other tells how fast the car is covering distance at the final check point (of the drag strip sensors or GPS telemetry), which is dependent on levels of traction as well as power to the ground.

A 370Z rated at 335 HP on the same day put down 256 wheel HP on exactly the same dyno. The highest trap speed for LFA was 126 mph in the CAR magazine review.

Trap speed is equally a function of how much traction there is available since trap speed is back calculated from how quick the car travels from one check point to the next (where sensors are placed on drag strip). Elevation changes and air density also affect the trap speed. That is why the trap speed of every single car so wildly fluctuates from one test to the other.

If you don't believe this then try putting a 500 HP car with winter tires on and you will get the point. Aside from slower times, the trap speed will nowhere be as close to that of a run done with very high-grip R compound tires. Trap speed also reduces in the wet where a lot of the forward momentum is lost due to weak traction.

I wasn't calling you a fanboy, fwiw. The gist is that dyno numbers are unreliable when trying to reverse calculate engine horsepower. In my opinion, they are only useful when trying to measure gains from runs before and after on the same machine.

Roy is an amazing individual...he came to our SELOC/Hennessy Lexus meet in crutches to hang out and chat and left the car as he had something else to do. The guy is a real enthusiast and just a fine gentleman.

Thanks for sharing the vids! I need to start hanging out there more

No 1/4mile time elapsed from the LFA so far has even used the launch control feature properly. It's a car made for dynamics, not drag races. The video is nice and all, made a lot of people happy with that noise. Look at the exhaust blowing peoples clothing.

Straight line speed is certainly part of the equation. Not everything, but certainly part of the measure of a great supercar. Otherwise, 200 HP can do just as well as 500 HP.

Anyway, posted on 6speedonline.com:

My hats off to forged performance (that happens to be primarily a GTR tuner) for promoting LFA using Roy's LFA.

Nice, here is another one from this same site. I think this is the first time I see a privately owned LFA running at full tilt on a track. Watch around 1:45 when he chased down two other cars.
