So the rave reviews and heaps of praises keep pouring in....
A $100 - $150K cannot package so many different elements and deliver so well and so cohesively all in one. Just does not happen. Need to pay to play.

The only reason there are only 500 of them being made was similar to the problem that sony playstation had. It is actually going to start costing them money and there will be no margin of profit if they produce more..

Having a cheaper and more affordable 2 + 2 sports car would be a welcome addition, but I really hope Lexus continues with the exotic supercar research and development since it showcases what truly Lexus is capable of and how it can be a top exotic supercar builder, if money is no object.

While Supras made their name on highway drag races and impressive dyno numbers, the LFA is like you said in a different universe. The experience and dynamics are completely incomparable.
Even stock, LFA is untouchable by any Supra around a technical and high speed challenging track regardless of how many mods it has on it. Need proof?? Well, look at the Nurburgring lap times.

Having owned both the MKIV Supra twin turbo and the NSX, I can tell you Supra handles really well despite of its weight. It is not the MR design like in the NSX; but the legendary 2JZ inline 6, the suspension, brakes, and gearing all demonstrated true Toyota engineering two decades ago.
Supra and LFA not in the same universe? Yes and no, I see a strong Supra heritage embedded in LFA, even the body shape reminds me of a squashed MKIV. Performance wise they should never be close, how can we even start to compare LFA’s performance to something Toyota engineers created two decades ago, at 1/10 of the price.
I am very excited to see Toyota decided to build this ultra performance halo car to make a statement, and to compete against the best exotic sports cars in the world. However, I feel Toyota should offer a tamer version of LFA under $100K, kind of like what Audi is doing with its R8; or a entry level model like the Lamborghini Gallardo to Murcielago. While the LFA competes against the likes of 599, Enzo, Carrera GT, Murcielago, and CCX; the entry level model should rise above great sport scars like the Corvette, Viper, Nissan GTR, 911, and the next gen NSX, in terms of performance.
I have been a loyal Lexus owner for many years, maybe my expectation for Toyota is too high….

exclusive matchup

put it this way. i have tremendous respect for supra, similar to the gtr and nsx. their era was the true glory imho, reliability, power (insane power), sporty, etc...
but comes today and the lfa, i think it carries more than just the raw power and performance. it's exotic and carry exclusivity too. it's kind of like talking about the r35 gtr and the lfa. the r35 is superb in many ways, but then it's in a different market than what the lfa is in. to me the supra is more like together with the r35
