I doubt it will be over 600 hp.

But it should weigh less than 3200 lbs. Maybe...

I too am baffled by the word "concept" in the press release. Typically Toyota and Lexus both will say, "The debut of the 2010 Toyota 4Runner" or "The world premiere of the 2008 Lexus IS F". If it's a concept they are always clear to say, "concept vehicle."

The fact that there is no model year and the appearance of the word "concept" seems quite fishy to me.

Hope we are not about to see LF A III. That would be a let down.

Why?

That's like saying any basketball player who is less than 6'4" will fail in NBA...

We haven't even got the ACTUAL PERFORMANCE NUMBERS yet and people are already claiming if not this and if not that then the car will fail.

Gotta love the internet...

As posted above, the Japanese press release uses the umbrella term 'prototype' before listing a) '2-seat supercar world premiere' and b) LF-Ch. It does not specifically call the LFA a concept any more.

They are making only 500 at most for first year. Some dealers probably wont get none for the first year. Im not going to say im super rich or well off, but im at a moderate comfortable living in my life and can spend $140,000 for a brand new R8.

To spend 2X (speculated by many dealers, and some suggesting upwards to exceed $300K) as much just because I want to be unique and exclusive isnt something I care for, nor would it make me want to buy it to be called one of the few kids in the city/state to have one.

I called a local dealer back to ask what info he has on it and he said out of 500 units, only 150 are for the USA, of which about 50 are already reserved for dealer owners making about 100 of which are available for the public. He said this is the only year that Lexus is making the vehicle so by the time it is available (late 2011 according to him), it will be worth 10X more.

hmm...any thoughts?

Thanks for sharing, this is more info to add to the pricing thread in the Prototypes forum.

We have another poster there saying that he was told of a price of $390,000 about; and yet another saying that all new owners must agree not to see the car to anyone else for at least 2 years.

Sounds like they are trying to make this vehicle very hard to attain, only for serious buyers, and also trying to make it collectible.

This will definitely be the rarest Lexus. It is not going to be one of the more 'reasonable' supercars/exotics, which is what others on this board have advocated. It is being sold like some of the more exclusive Ferraris, and the price is ambitious, but less than a Carrera GT (at least so far). Sounds like this will be one of those cars that very, very few will get to experience. Perhaps that can build some mythos.

I still hope they also come up with a nice SC or related model for the 'rest of us.' Or a more 'reasonable' priced R8 fighter, etc.

Considering the price, I wonder who will be the first A-list celeb to acquire one?

Relax guys, I think it's just a misprint in the Lexus PR. There is no way this is going to be a concept. Even if they call it a "concept", you can be sure what we see will be the production car. Toyota showed us 3 previous LF-A concepts over the years, there is no need for another one.

Unique and exclusive is only part of it.

Let's see, the LF A compared to the R8 will:

- look more exotic
- sound more exotic
- wipe the floor with the R8 in terms of performance
- very likely to have a better interior than the R8
- it will have a different driving experience than the LF A

You may not consider buying the LF A, but there are plenty of people who will consider it, just like plenty of people who considered the Carrera GT.

i still believe there is a possiblily it could still be a concept becasue at least two dealers i calledhave told me late 2011 arrivals for launch. Thats two years away. Unless i see an actual press release from Lexus like in the past where it SPECIFICALLY says somethign in the realms of:

"Lexus has announced a live press conference for a world debut for the all-new Lexus LF-A"....yada yada yada

Question

Well it's "unique" looking... That is to say like the GT-R, not everyone will like it. And some may love it! If the price approaches what I am reading after dealer markup... I would have to drop my cake on a Ferrari or Lambo. Now that's just me.

But man... Those exhaust tips must be for decoration? Because how will the paint and body withstand all the heat generated without damaging that sculpted back end area around the flush tips:
