WTB: 98+ SC400 $5-7k
Hello, I am an Acura turned Lexus guy, used to have a few Legend 6 speed Coupes, now an IS/SC addict (have an 08 IS350). Anyway, I suppose the idea of owning another coupe has infiltrated my psyche, I have been looking nationwide for a 1998 SC400 in great shape, found a few but incredibly high asking prices. My budget is right at $4-5k, I am hoping to find a 98+ SC400 or earlier SC400 with a swapped VVTi motor and trans (in the rare case someone has actually done all that work).
I am looking to pick up something pretty soon, but I figured throwing an an ad up might be a good idea. If you have an SC400, or even SC300 NA-T that is in good shape let me know. I will occasionally have to take the car to work, so I am wanting to find something presentable, doesn't have to be perfect, but certainly well cared for it's age. Well, let me know, I know I am probably being a little too hopeful given my budget, but I would really love to own an SC4, it's always been an interest of mine...not that wanting something makes you any more likely or entitled to actually get it

There's no way you'll find a good condition 98+ 400 with your budget. I've owned two of them, my last one I sold for well over $10k and the other one was high mileage which I sold for over $7k.
Amazing cars through, best cars I've ever owned. Would have never sold them if it wasn't for work requiring me to have an SUV. It would be well worth your while to increase your budget and get a decent one, rather than buying someone else's problem at $4-5k. Just my 2 cents

..keep in mind though that these were those prices are in CAD and in Canada where the used car market is generally more expensive than in the US.

The guy I sold my '99 to just informed me he's looking to sell it now (change in careers).
I would pick it back up myself but I am in the middle of a home purchase and just dont have the funds available. Its out of your price range, but if you (or anyone else) is interested shoot me a PM and I'll give you a detailed background/history of the car, along with all the mods it has.
(its a car in my signature below just to give you an idea)

Hey Phil, pretty sure I texted you about your SC3, you own "the dream", sadly, it's out of my price range unless I sell the IS350, which I told myself I would never do...well, unless an IS-F replaces it.

Hi,
Given your price point, THIS might be your ticket to a fine riding SC 400. $3900. 137k. Lots of pictures.

NIce SC400, reminds me of the Legend Coupe in Desert Mist Metallic. See, I feel that 6300 is about right for an SC400 of that vintage, I mean, there are a lot of competing cars that are newer w/newer technology available, making the SC a hard sell. Not saying that it isn't worth more, but I honestly feel that the market cap is in the $7k range for something super clean between 100-130k miles. In fact, I have been keeping up on the market values, looking at everything nationwide and I am seeing private party 98-99 SC400's with again 100-130k miles selling between 5500-6500. Given that reality, I am augmenting my original price range. Now there are some SUPER low mileage SC4's out there, some with as low as 40k miles, black on black, being put up for sale by dealers in the $10-15 range. Again, reminds me of Acura Legend 6MT Coupes, yes they can pull some serious money, BUT, they are often VERY difficult sales to make, and rarely actually secure those crazy prices. Well, I am raising my range to 6-7k, I have already found a few in that range, but none that are black/black, which admittedly is probably close to impossible to get within 6-7k, I can hope though. Anyone with a black, silver, or white pearl 98-99, let me know if you are looking to sell
