I thought the 97's had gated shifters, and a different cluster...not to mention the already stated pre-97 wing..can you post up a picture of the vin. tag that is on the drivers door..

 

Gated shifter came in 1998 and the gauge cluster was changed in 1997. Newer, softer seats were also changed in 1997. As already stated, the wing was installed by the previous owner; for what reason, I couldn't tell you. Preference maybe? As for the door moldings they were like that when I as well as the previous owner got them.

But yes, the car IS a 1997.

It's a 97 the previous owner just added the pre 97 spoiler.
98 came with gated shifter, but 97 has the new style cluster.
I can tell it's a 97 just by looking at the engine lol.
