I wonder what the name will be?

I was always told:
IS = Intermediate Sedan
ES = Entry Sedan
GS = Grandsport Sedan
LS = Luxury Sedan
SC = Sports coupe

I wonder what the new one would be: RC? For Racing Coupe?

The new sports car could have 950 to match the 911

IS = Intelligent Sport
ES = Executive Sedan (Toyota's "Entry Sedan" is the Yaris )

I think those were the only corrections needed.

As for this new sports coupe, it may be the next SC (this third gen SC may be as different from the second gen SC, as it was to the first gen SC). A hardtop convertible Lexus may be transferred to the IS lineup only (if the IS350 was a coupe/convertible, it pretty much trumps the SC in specs already).

Other people have called it the GT500. Too generic and improperly overused though.

My vote/guess would be that this "exotic" will be the next SC...

LF-A is the prototype designation. No one knows what the true designation will be. As PhilipMSPT had mentioned it could be called the GT 500. We won't know until the 2007 Tokyo Auto show...

If they were doing this THIS year it would be sweet. I fear in 3 years it'll already be one-uped by its euro compition.

It could come out tomorrow or 3,000 years from now
1. There will always be a car coming after
2. People will hate it just for being a Lexus that is sporty

You're thinking th LF-C, I have no idea what they're doing with that idea though. It was supposed to be the IS coupe (or possibly SC)

With Lexus, I know they like to watch the competition to see what it puts out and then improve on it. I have seen that for a few years with the RX series, took awhile, but they finally got a better competitor in terms of power with the RX350 and RX400h. They are no different with the rest of their lines.

I agree that Lexus watches the competition and also improves from within. As we see through the whole Lexus model line up all their cars have improved over time from the flagship sedan the LS to the entry levels of the IS and ES. Lexus only gets better...

this info isnt confirmed, the nikkei did not cite any sources.
therefore, its essentially more speculation.
i think this car is coming sooner than 2009. i think we may see a production-level prototype at TMS2007, along with the production-level Nissan GT-R.
