REFURBISHED SC 400 Changer Help!
Being so many people have done such a fantastic job of describing to us "stock" guys how well the ES300 CD Changer works in our SC's, the prices of these 7-11 year old changers continues to increase or at least stay at a very expensive leve on the more popular on-line purchasing venues. No cheapie deals anymore that I've found.
With that in mind, can anyone specifically report to how well the REFURBISHED 12-Disc changers work that we can get through our Lexus Dealerships? Do they continue to skip, or has that anti-skip mechanism been improved upon?
For a little extra cash, I can get a refurb 12-disc that fits my car as it was designed - and has a 1-year warranty. But would like to know if they work as reliably as they should.
Thanks

Hey Mynoles1
I purchaed a referb/exchange from the lexus dealer myslef, can't be the warranty. When I bought my SC, the changer would not play at all. Well, it almost played as long as the car wasn't moving..... Now with great hope I installed the new changer and tightened the four screws all the way down. Didn't want it to vibrate lose. But after taking it over some rough roads, it still skiped far more than I expected.
What I found was that the unit was skipping because it was mounted to ridgely to the car its self. I found that if you loosend the screw's a bit to where you could physically shake the changer, just a small amount, this seemed to give it a bit more isolation. It took me a while tigthing and then loosing the bolts to find the right combination, but my time and effort finally paid off! Only on rare occations does it miss a beat, and its usually monster sized pot holes anyhow!!! So to say the least I'm VERY happy!
One thing to keep in mind though. I was able to call 4 different lexus dealer and guess what? Each one had a different price on the units. So by all means call around if you can. I got mine for $300.00 which I thought was a fair price.
I hope all this makes sense and helps. It's late for me and work started real early this morning. If you have any questions just let me know.
Good Luck,
Lee

Hey Guys,
I just received and installed my refurbished changer 4 days ago. I bolted it down completely and to this point it has not skipped once - even crossing railroad tracks. My old one would skip if you ran over a pencil in the road!! I've been playing it a lot to give it a good checkout. So far, so good!!
