Default 2000 GS Stock Stereo Problem

I just started having this problem last night on my 2000 GS with the stock Pioneer system. After about 3 hours of stop and go traffic in NYC, the stereo starts cutting out at time. At first it was just slight cutouts, and I thought it may have been the CD itself. But, I then switched to the radio, and the same thing was happening. Well, I went back to CD and it seemed to cure itself for a while. But it then came back again, and at one point, actually turned itself off (and even shut off all lighting on the headunit for a couple of seconds). After that I just turned it off and went home.

Anyone have any ideas? I hope it is not a big problem, because my car is now out of warranty, and is going to be turned back in at end of lease in two months.

I have had the same thing happent to me.

usualy in stop an go traffic.

I think it is due to lack of AC Power feeding the system. or voltage drop from the alternator.

Do you have after market AMPS?

If you put the AC button on. That raises motor RPMS. It usualy solves the problem for me.

This also solves my problem of somtimes stalling in stop and go traffic.

Default This fixed my problem :-)

Ive had the same problem, Except i have the NAK system in my 99 gs400. I had the battery checked and turns out it was bad - Once replaced ive not any problems. Why not have an auto shop check the battery, I had mine tested at O'Reilys ... free testing, didnt even have to pull it out of the car

Actually, it was in stop and go with the AC running. Maybe I'll check out that batter, it is still the same OE from 2000.

Default You got an AC leak in your car!

Ok, this is interesting! One of the CL's member 2001HitechGS3 had the same problem.
His radio stops working, cut in and out while the AC is running. Took it to the dealer, he has a leak in his AC's vent, right above the radio. Got that fixed, put in new radio, problem stops!

Problem: AC leakage, water drips into radio.
Solution: Bring it to the deal and get it fixed.

Interesting. Hasn't happened since, but it did happen after I had cleaned the filter in the HVAC system. Hmm, the puzzle is starting to come together.

Mine has started to eject the CD changer when I turn off my lights. It also did the same thing a couple random times while driving. I don't know what's going on.

Bring it in the Dealer, they should fix it for free! It's a manufacture defect...
