bass hitting when i start car
Hopefully someone here knows the answer. A few days ago we put in my 15" Eclipse + 500W Rockford amp in my car. It sounds really good, loud and clean. Whenever I start the car though, it LOUDLY hits bass for about 2 seconds until the car is started. Also, wheneever I turn the radio completely off, bass hits constantly BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM. Any ideas?
Yea I'll go through and check a bunch of stuff. Yeah, I put in the 15". I used to have it in my Acura Integra with 4 gauge wire and it never sounded that great for a 15". I put it in the Lexus the other day with a Rockford 8 gauge wiring kit, and holy **** is it loud.
regrounding didn't solve any problems for me, i still get the loud BOOOOOOOOOOM if i turn off the radio. egainer suggested puttin a switch in that controls the amp, but i'm wonderin if there's anything besides that.

Check your remote turn on and your antenna ground thats what it was for me.
Wait, this has nothing to do with polarity or RCA's close to power wires. The only way that RCA's are consearned is if they are directional (should be marked with arrow); otherwise, it does not matter how you wire them. Also check your grounds. Regrounding helps this problem in most cases but not always. Don't forget the ground at the head unit; that one is the most important one in situations similar to yours.
This "pop" is usually the result of an amp turning on after the head unit does. What you can do is put a constant 12v on a turnon wire and put a switch on it. This way you can turn on your amps first and then turn on the headunit. Since now that HU and your amp are independent from each other, there should be no pop.

Retro is right, but what we are talking about is oscillation. the amp is oscillating because it doesn't have an input signal, yet is powered up. the problem is ......
..... and that's is why your amp is staying on without an input signal and oscillating. You need to either purchase a component with a delay circut in it (*soft start technology) like an audio control x-over for instance, or you need to purchase an amp with soft start technology. Your third option is to chunk the factory head unit.
Either way, you will not get rid of this problem without spending a little cash unfortunately because your amp doesn't have SST and your radio is stock. So your amp will always power on immediately with the ignition and pop.
The radio needs to see full power FIRST and be ready before the amp lights up.
One thing that baffles me though, how long does the amp oscillate AFTER you turn the car/radio off? forever? or just until the ignition is off?
the remote turn on comes from the stock radio
