how to burn CD's and mp3's to hard drive
I have a 2012 LS460 and cannot find anywhere how to burn CD's and hopefully MP3's to the ML hard drive.
Any input would be appreciated.

Little time consuming but easy to do. When you say burning CD, you mean duplicating CD? I don't think so.

Sorry, I meant rip a CD and maybe MP3 contents into the ML hard drive.
Do I need to use a laptop to do so, or can it be done through the Lexus onboard controls?
Thanks.

Create a folder(directory) by music category so you can choose the directory and find the title
easily. When playing it .displays, title, author etc. I was a bit surprised when I play foreign language
songs the display is in foreign language. On my car I can import the files onto juke box(hard drive),
or plug in USB card, SD card, etc.

Ok, so if I create a music file on a portable hard drive (thumb drive or usb card?) via my computer and just plug that card into the car somewhere? Where does it plug in?
Thanks

2007-2009 LS's had the ability to rip CD tracks to the HD in the car.
Unfortunately ASCAP (music licensing group) got involved and it
was decided that some day some one would sell a car without erasing
the tracks and oh boy, somebody would get to hear unlicensed PIRATED
music without paying for it...
Best method for us is to get an iPod and rip the tracks to it. Your USB jack
is inside the center console, leave it turned on and plugged it and press the
"media" button. You will now see the track name, artist, run time on screen
and be able to advance/repeat using the steering wheel up/down rocker.
Short presses of the "Mode" button take you from AM to FM to Sat to BT,
long press the Mode button to mute radio stations or pause your new iPod!
