Default Deflex/DynaXorb for Subwoofers?

Just curious if there is any benefit in using this in a subwoofer enclosure or is its main benefit for front speakers?

No, no benefit for subwoofer enclosures. Low frequency waves are too long. Inside the subwoofer enclosure a wave has no chance to develope so all you get is pressure. In doors it definitely helps. First of all, pads add mass to the door so you get less energy wasted on flexing the panel. Secondly, it does reduce the standing waves so they don't come back to the source.

Retro,

Deflex does make a specific panel for subwoofer enclosures. Instead of the concentric circles, it has a very deep V groove pattern to it, something like an inch thick for each groove. Seems to work out well.

I tried avtually those in ported and sealed enclosures...made absolutely no difference. Maybe it only works on specific enclosure types?

Retro,

Strange...it didn't get rid of the hollow "boxy" sound?

I had bought some of these at my local car audio shop.

The guy at the shop said they werent really necessary. Retro, did you try these or the Deflex pads? Think there would be any difference, or is it just scientifically unnecessary? Thanks for your input.

I used non-namebrand ones but they looked very similar. Scientifically I don't think they are necessary but as Percy said it did help him. Those things also reduce a volume of your box a little bit so you might hear a difference.

Percy, I did not have that hollow boxy sound, but many systems do. Just a box-woofer combinations I guess, a matter of luck.
