Default Stereo Upgrade

Has anyone out there upgraded the GS400 (w/ NAV) stock speakers in the door?

I hear that only two speaker options exist.. The Dynaudio and the MBQuart "Q" series. NOT knowing something about the stock speakers (ie sensitivity and 2ohm, 4 ohm etc) and the stock power amp has me a little worried.

Anyone have: a power rating on the stock amp?
the stock speaker ratings?

If you go to one of these local So Cal highend car audio joints - they assume that you want to rip the whole car apart and add a 1000 watt power amp, 2 subs in the trunk to get attention while your crusing the ghetto. I'm just looking to get some better performance.

I did add a JL Audio 10W7 and amp on the shelf space of the trunk. It doesnt take much trunk space w/ a custom enclosure. How the hell do you remove the existing woofer speaker from the back deck.?

Your input is appreciated.

fast400,

I'm moving your thread to the Lexus Electronics section, which is exactly for questions such as you asked.

There are a LOT of other options other than Dynaudio and MBQ, try a search of this forum and you'll find plenty of alternatives. I personally have Dynaudios and love them. Others have Boston, Infinity, a/d/s, etc.

I would like to know what size door speakers are in my front and rear doors. I have been getting confliting information from various car audio installation shops who either don't know or are guessing. What size did your car come with and what size did you install?

Alexwilo,

I believe they are 4.5 for both front and back and you should be able to use the same size or 5.5 or 6.5 with minor modifications for the GS.

They're 4 inch rounds for front and back. 10 inch sub. 1 inch tweeters. To use any decent aftermarket system, a baffle plate and spacer ring have to be constructed.
