Default Speakers in 2004 GS 430

Was looking to trash the Mark Levinson speakers in my GS (personally I think they are garbage). I am curious to what sizes are throughout the vehicle? All help is appreciated! Thanks!

Though the question may be previously answered sometimes people appreciate feedback instead of everyone saying there's a search button they need to use. The forum would barely be active if everyone referred to old posts to answer questions because everyone on here has been through just about every question you could ask about the GS.

To the OP the factory speakers are 4 inch to my knowledge, you can upgrade to 6.5 inch speakers if you get the adapter for the doors. Google Lexus GS300 Speaker Adapter and you'll find them.

Can't wait to get those adaptors installed when I get my door lock actuator motors replaced. I'm very surprised that the GS has very small speakers for a luxury/performance car; before knowing about them, I thought they were 6.5's. I recently been in a 14 IS350 and the sound system is phenomenal!

Make sure you use something to prevent rattle behind the adapters

Yeah, I going to use sound deadening. Hopefully when I'm done, it will sound a little better than the new models premium sound systems I hear from Lexus, Nissan/Infiniti, etc. Tired of this dull, weak music my car makes.

I never understood why folks by adapters.
Just mod the speaker box yo already have.
I just used used the template that comes with the new speakers, placed it on the factory baffle box (it's the plastic box that you speakers currently are mounted to) and then used a jig saw to cut out the larger hole. Dropped the new speakers in and done.

If you're not going with deep speakers, I'd give this router a try.

Put my Alpine 6.5 Mids in 4" holes in both doors using Alphaman19's method. just make sure you have the clearance depth-wise, if you want to reinstall the stock grilles. Ditto on making sure you don't leave something loose in there. Turn up some bass 'n listen closely, before you button things up. GL

Yes. I've got Alpine SPX 17 mids in all four doors. 6.5" spkrs that have 5.25" cutout and 2.5" depth. Also stock grilles put back in place so prying eyes see nothing but 'stock speakers'. GL.

I don't know, I want the adapters because I might want to revert back to stock, and I'm not really feeling the idea of modding my speaker boxes.

A baffle board and a ring spacer will do nicely. As for the material behind the speaker, use Deflex. Madisound used to have them, but it's been over a decade since I've purchased any. Great stuff.

6.5 will require a spacer for the fronts. No spacer needed for the rears, just a 1/2 inch thick baffle board. Make sure to use caulk to seal up any leaks. Also, make sure that the connections are soldered for best results.

The stock 4 inchers are ported through their enclosure. Just awful sounding. Worlds better with a 6.5 and a tweet 2 way combo.
