Thanks to all the great info here at this forum. I purchased a '09 ES 350 with the smart key that has the mechanical key inserted into it. The owner was going through a divorce and only had one key. He said he would look for other key but I bet that his ex has it and not going to give it back. I have used the search button here but can't find any up to date info. Am I stuck and have to go to the "stealer" for a second key? I don't want to buy something off the internet that won't work but I wondered if there is any other alternative. Thanks again!

 

unfortunately yes unless you know a good locksmith that can program 1 for you... but i doubt they'd be able to cut the mech key portion...
