Valentine One Radar detector
Has anyone else had a problem with their Valentine one giving a constant laser signal in the LS400. I am thinking it is something to do with the windshield. The LS400 has the automatic rain detector and and I'm wondering if it is this feature causing the problem. I have been unable to use the Valentine One for three weeks now and already have my first tag in many years.

I can tell you one thing, the V1 is very sensitive, I took it with me the other day to ride with one of my friends, she had an alpine head unit and when i tried to use the remote control of it, if i would point it a bit towards the radar, i would give me a laser alarm.. also certain car's tailights would do the same, i have noticed the new tahoe/envoy third light activates the laser alarm as well... so if your rain sensor uses an infrared led, that might be creating your false alarm
I have the Valentine One in my new LS430 and have no problems whatsoever. As a matter of fact, it is one of the best purchases I have ever made.
Yes, it is VERY sensitive, but I like that. In the month that I have owned it, I have evaded about 8 speeding tickets because of this little beauty.
The glass is likely not the reason for the Laser alarm. The glass, if anything will hurt the Valentine by making it LESS sensitive to all types of Radar and Laser.
If I were you, I would write Mike Valentine, or call their tech support hotline. It could be that you have a bad unit.

Iceman,
My v1.7 V1 has no problem in my '95 LS400.
What you might want to check is if you are using a non-V1 power cord. I found this type of problem on some rental cars when using my Y-adapter. I usually run V1 with some other accessory such as cell phone charger. I found out that the charger doesn't create the problem, it's the Y-adapter.
I don't have problems with TrailBlazer and its twin (Don't quite remember the name, GMC Envoy ?) third brake lights but my friend with v1.8 does. The third brake light on those vehicles are the electroluminiscence (EL) type. Somehow it produces the 904nm light wave which is used also in laser guns. This is also true with IR remote controls.

The only false triggers I ever received with my V1 came from S-band radar, which would appear as lidar on my V1. It happens consistently when near ships or some forms of fire control radar.
