Cellphone defective in LS series?
I've owned four or five different Lexus (Lexi? Lexuses?) over the last 12 years, and have enjoyed virtually all of them. (The only one I did like was an SC-400, which tried unsuccessfully to kill me in August of 1996. But that's another story.)
I'm in the process of taking delivery of a new 2003 LS-430, probably the "Custom Luxury" version. Unfortunately, my dealer and my lease guy are telling me that the steering-wheel-mounted cellphone is defective in the current 2003 models, and no fix has been released yet. They couldn't or wouldn't give me any details as to how the cellphone is defective, except to say that there's been massive failures with it over the last few months.
I did a cursory search through the messages here on this board, but didn't see any discussion of cellphone problems with the LS-series cars. Does anybody have any details on this, or when Lexus US will resolve the problem?
I really like the integrated Lexus phone I had on my original LS-400, circa 1990. The three-button hands-free call/answer system they had was terrific, and I'm amazed that nobody's managed to equal it over the years.
Can anybody shed any light on this?

Hi Marc. According to Lexus, they are about to introduce a new, improved phone very soon. Your local dealership will be able to start ordering them on January 15th. It will be a Nokia 6310i model and will work in 2001- 2003 LS and GS series. And in 2003 LX and SC's as well. The service is from AT&T. I am excited about this new phone as I have a lot of clients who are waiting for this phone to come out...much like yourself.
