Help an audio noobie out!

I'm not really looking for the best system just something for myself.
I have one 12" kicker CVR in a sealed box. I have a friend selling a JL audio 1000.1 AMP
will this amp be ok with this sub?

What info do you guys need?

Too powerful. That amp can run 1000 watts at 4ohms you could probably run 3 cvrs off of that one amp
