Default Help: Interior Trunk Light Sensor?

Need help.

My trunk light is out on my '01 GS 300.....I already changed the wedge bulb....still dead.

Is there a sensor that tells the bulb to turn on when the trunk lid is opened? If so, where is this sensor located?

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

umm when your trunk lid is open, you will see the locking mechanism towards the center. when u close the trunk, the little thing in it gets pushed down telling the light to turn off...when its not pushed down, the trunk light turns on. u might wanna push this in and see if there is resistance that pushes it back out..im pretty sure this should be working fine.

im thinking maybe you blew a fuse? as far as i remember, the radio is attached to the same fuse as the trunk light (at least in '00 gs3). does your radio turn on? (another thing attached to it is the light under the glove box)...there also might be another fuse for it...fuses are attached all weird sometimes...

if you figure out its not a fuse, my only other suggestion would be to remove the bulb and attach a multimeter to the + and - terminals of the socket and see if you have current. maybe u have bad luck with bulbs?

did u mess with the car (install a system or something recently) or did this just happen out of nowhere? if you know its not your fault (such as accidentally cutting the wire), take it to lexus. your car is still under a very nice warranty.

(if you happen to want more info on tracing the wire from the socket to the front of the car, i could tell you exactly where to look)

thats all the suggestions i have...maybe someone else might be able to shed more light on this problem of yours..

Fierce GS:

It works! It works! You were right....the prob was in the latch....the rubber coating on the latch was mangled and didnt retract properly into the latch housing when opening the trunk.

Solution: removed the mangled rubber coating.

Thanks dude!!
