Default stock vs stock

Hello fellow owners. My name is Patrick and i am posting specifically here to avoid being moved . My question /problem is this: i am on my second SC300 manual, this model , it appears to be a base model with no heated seats and a factory tape deck with amp. here is my question : i came across a sc400 in a picknpull yard with the Nakimichi deck and amp. i pulled both and have the harness for the deck, once i installed it the radio turned on great! but now the hazard lights do not work , neither does the speakers. in the trunk i could not pull any of the extra wires for the amp and there is a brown plug on the harness that i do not know what it goers to. i will search my fsm diagrams and compare the two. my factory deck had a tape stuck in it and worked intermittently. once i removed the tape it stopped working all together. i have a feeling everyone is going to saw just get a new deck but i already went to the trouble and everything was fairly cheep. thank you for the replies.

anyone??? here is my idea, i go to the sc400 and trace the wires and pull all the harness necessary to make it work. since the car is relatively the same i should be able to splice what i need and run it properly.

Your 300 had the pioneer system which uses two amps (one for the doors and deck lid - 4 channel & one sub amp. The Nak system is one 5 channel amp. They are not interchangable.

i have the amp for the nak deck. the unit lights up but i hear nothing from the speakers. it works for both amps but the pioneer amp is the only one i hear a feed back from. what is the brown plug under the radio for. on the other deck harness it isn't there and there seems to be a few plugs missing from each harness.

Perhaps the sub amp was removed....but, in order to convert from the Pioneer system to the Nak the entire harness from radio to amp to speakers needs to be replaced. Simpler and more cost effective to go aftermarket. Plus, being a SC4 owner with Nak......it really aint any good!

awww crap . oh well... i still have a deck with the front harness and trunk amp. i can put it on Craigslist or see if someone needs it here. i was contemplating grabbing the brown plug and all the wiring that is connected and reinstalling in my 300, the antenna i had to replace came from the 400. i still have the original deck. the only thing that lights up is the eject button on the tape deck. the nak system has a orange hue and all bet the 3 4 , tape ,CD and tune seek buttons are orange. the center lights up and displayed fine . you want a extra deck.?

An 18 year old deck that only outputs to an amp that is nearly impossible to find working and will cost quite a bit to overhaul? Sign me up!!

I concur with Korsu. Time to do a proper install with a real deck, some good aftermarket gear, and really enjoy quality sound with features that are useful. If it were me, I'd fiberglass a couple subs into the trunk so you can retain some useful space, install some good speakers up front, skip any rear speakers, and call it a day.
