Sirius/XM question
Hello all!
Noob to the forums here. Great info and great people here!
I have searched the forums and found answers close to my question, but some of them are a little dated and I need some advice.
I recently purchased a CPO 2009 IS 250. I have Nav and the radio with the AM/SAT button and would like to add either Sirius or XM to my car. Thanks to these forums, I see that it is possible to do so, but the part numbers that were mentioned are either discontinued or "will not fit" my vehicle (per the online parts site).
I am semi mechanically adept, so I don't mind doing the install myself, I just need a definitive answer as to the part numbers needed for my 09 IS250.
Lastly, I have only found XM part numbers, but am interested in Sirius parts too since my wife's Jeep has Sirius, and I would like to keep all of my radios on one account.
Thank you in advance for your help and patience with a noob!

well xm and sirius are the same account and if you let them know your vehicle can only accept XM they have made exceptions in the past. as for that, if you want OEM and to drop a few hundred get OEM XM but that would also require you to have the SAT radio "fin" on your roof.
if not go onto Isimple and search that way. it just wont be OEM. GL.

Thanks for the reply Irish! I do have the Sharkfin antenna on my IS, so that should be good. Would you happen to know the OEM part number that would work with the 2009 IS250? I found similar threads here, but never any definitive answer.
Thanks!!

You need both for XM - 86100-0W220 and 86180-0W030....plus install instructions http://is.sewellparts.com/pdf/ISXMRADIO.pdf
word is that swell made a non-factory sirius kit that worked but I cant find it anywhere on the site and I know there are indeed tons of aftermarket ones like those from isimple. also, lexus.com states that in 2008 sirius addition was an option to the IS series. im unsure on this too so maybe a call to your local dealer or someone else can chime in. but i am sure about the above parts.

actually i disagree... i've had a sirius account for 6yrs now.. an when i got my Ls dec 2010 (which has factory xm) they told there was ABSOLUTELY no way to add it to my sirius acct.. they told me that yes they are the same company BUT its like chevy, gmc, & cadillac same corp but u cant get a new escalade on a chevy lot.... unless this has changed but i doubt it...
also vaistech makes a few options to add sat radio as well.. they work very well..which is a great idea because if u change vehicles every few yrs as i do..u get the universal tuner an jus need the vehicle specific adapter.. then theres no need to alter your sat radio acct jus because u have a new car.. there is now a $75 service charge to swap everytime..
an make sure to ask about the lifetime service option...i paid $399 6yr ago an now no more sirius bills EVER.. xm was a bit pricier at $599 (that they'll break up into payments) so now i have both an will never see a bill from either of them again...

yes i know the vehicle maker + sat radio provider "lock" but if it was an option to have either or, ive had a few customer service people make an exception (as customers have instructed me) but like i usually say, i base some of my responses on customer responses.
