Hey everybody, I installed my new stereo by my self but the problem was that i need an antenna adapter that will convert my 2 plugs from standard power antenna into one plug that will fit into the new stereo. Is this possible, If so can you show me a link from where to buy it from and how much it costs, and if you have done it and were satsified?

Hey man, I replied in your other thread. Try using a "low voltage trigger."

http://www.autotoys.com/New_Tech/DIY...er_antenna.htm

This website is where I got the idea from. It goes into detail about Lexus radios and how they send signals to the antenna. I think what needs to happen is the antenna signal from your new headunit needs to be modified to get the antenna to go up. Then you can use those other two wires to control the up and down movement.

Looks like some experimentation on your part is going to be involved.

Is there any chance i can use the antenna wire and amplifier wire from the metra adapter to be twisted togethor with the antenna//amplifier wire from the new stereo?

Because if i use the antenna wire then there is no sound because there is no where for the amplifier wire to go and if i use the amplifier only there is no where for the antenna control wire that makes it go up and down to go.

Is it possible?

No, don't do that. Leave the metra kit the way it is. Here's a diagram of your problem. The amp is not getting in the way, according what I've seen.

YOu need a way to simulate the signal of the 2 wires (ANT A & B) which now have no signal. It's not the metra kit, it's your new headunit. It doesn't have a built in relay like your old one and cannot use these wires.

We need to make a modification in the trunk at the antenna itself to give these wires a 12V signal for 5 seconds when the ANT wire (which is connected as you can see from the diagram) has a signal.

I suggest we move this to the electronic forum and let those guys have a crack at this. I'm trying to get the ball rolling here but this is as far as I can get right now.

Default Solution

I found the solution, its simple but works.

Basically take ur stereo back out and wire all three togethor. Then the antenna works, going up and down and it doesnt affect the amplifier/sound.

So wire the amplifier and antenna wires leading from the metra kit with the amplifer/antenna wire(1) togethor. So thats three wires ur wiring togethor, dont worry nothing goes wrong. Big problem simple solution.
