I bought my 1990 LS400 from the original owner. Shortly after the car was purchased in 1990, a radar detector was installed in the car. To turn it on, there is a small **** under the dash. There are 2 small lights in the instrument cluster that light up as the detector is working. The previous owner was well into his 80s, and can't remember make or model. Any documentation on the radar detector has been lost.


Any idea what kind of detector might be in there? Or how I may find out what type of detector it is?

That's an older K40 radar with front and rear sensors. One LED blinks if the radar is sensed from the front and the other blinks if sensed from the rear. There should also be piezo sirens under the dash as well.
