Well, not really - but the orientation is automatically adjusted such on the unit that the car always is travelling upwards on the screen.

Most maps I've seen - UP is NORTH! So when I'm going South - the car goes up. - East = UP - West = UP.

Is there any way to make it show NORMAL map orientation?

yea dude just touch the compass on the screen. im pretty sure that changes the setting, its on the top left hand side. I have mine set to always aim north i think, the logo for the compass changes depending on the setting.
