3 Speakers blown
How could this happen??
Well...my girlfriend was toying with the center console while the car was shut off... and obviously she mistakenly had the volume **** turned all the way up. When I got back into the car and started the car up, I almost lost my ears. And later yesterday, I found out both speakers in the front and the rear right speakr have been blown....
Well...now I'm in search of used stock speakers.
Anybody has extra speakers?
- passenger's side speaker (next to passenger's right leg)
- Right speaker in the rear.
(found a speaker for driver's side on e-bay for 20 bucks...thank God)

I already have taken out the entire car-phone unit.
What I mean by blown speaker is...that the speakers are rattling at strong bass and also hissing...
The speakers are probably ripped...

Not unusual in a system that's overpowered (which is more desirable than underpowered, you just have to be careful with the volume).Generally speaking, you will get warning signs of speaker damage. One is distortion. If the sound gets distorted at a certain volume, that's too high for the speakers, so turn it down or get better speakers.

In the case of our cars, the older ones will have age issues even if they were never abused. Heat and humidity over time will destroy speakers, both the rubber ring around the cone, and the cone itself if they are paper.
So if you get replacements, consider investing in something made with a poly or metal alloy cone. They're not that expensive for the modest-range ones. I tend to favor Infinity for car interior applications, at least in the tweeter and midrange.

i replaced my passenger nak speaker with a pioneer speaker from fleabay about a year ago. both of my front speakers blew out last week and i just popped in some infinity kappa 42.7i's for less than the price i paid for ONE used stock speaker. don't waste your money on that pos.
I'd recommend getting some aftermarket speakers rather than stock...I mean if you think about it those speakers were designed a looong time ago. There's been some technological advancements in that time with speakers
my 2 cents~

Get aftermarket 4" speakers for the doors and rear deck. Get ones with high sensitivity (>91) or else youre volume will be greatly reduced. The Boston series speakers work well. I got the 4" components and the 4" coaxials. They sound great with my Nak system.
If you don't want to spend $$, still just get cheap aftermarket ones (Kenwood, Pioneer, etc). The paper cones and foam surrounds used in the pioneer and nak system speakers are too old and weak now.
