Some audio issues
92 sc400 nak system, i know that the AM sucks in it, i havent gotten around to doing the fix yet, but if i replace the head unit, will it still run the 12disc changer? I really need AM to work and i want to come in clear, im not sure that the fix will do that, for example, i live in new york city, listen to 770AM, i drive my lex out of manhattan and out of the metro area i lose the station, just the other day, i drove a saturn all the way to harrisburg PA, 190 miles away, still got the station, of course not clearly, but it was listenable, in the lex, you wouldnt even know that the station was ever there? my question is will the fix give me the same results or should i replace the head unit, and will it still run the 12 disc? any advice would be great.

I have no experience with your particular model, but in general:
-Bad AM reception is usually the head unit or the antenna. Have you looked at them and checked the connections. Antennas go bad sometimes.
-If you replace the head unit with the same factory model the changer will work fine. If you replace the HU with an aftermarket like Alpine the changer will not work with it. This is assuming that you have factory changer.

CHANGE THE FM ANTENA CABLE.
I know that you said AM radio reception is poor, but it is the FM cable that causes the problem. I have done this repair about 25 times already at the dealership. Buy an aftermarket cable (good quality, 15ft, $20-$50 maybe), then run it straight from the radio to the antena assembly. I'm pretty sure that is your problem. Hope this helps! Let us know.
