Just installed Vlad's Video-Nav I
Just installed vlad kit. Pretty simple and clean instructions along with parts. I have a '01 GS430 with ML and you can mount the Pioneer unit underneath the Nav ECU. Just unscrew the 4 bolts and put some double sided tape underneath the GEX unit. This way you can not even see the unit at all. Next, I will need to mount my PS2. I'm thinking of laying it on top of the Nav ECU. I want to make it easy access so I can take it back inside my house.
I'm plannng on using the Logitech 2.4 GHz wireless remote to controll the unit. This should work out fine - I hope.
Does anyone know the difference between the BGTV (back ground TV) vs. TV1?
Thanks.

The GEX-P7000TV allows you to seperate the audio and video, so you can still have your navigation screen on while audio is playing. So [BGTV] is to have TV sound on while your navigation screen (or another video source) is playing. Read the GEX-P7000TV users guide for full instructions.
Thanks VideoNavi.
Can you save certain TV channel to memory? I read the instrucitons and looks like it can only memorize the TV channel automaticaly not by self selecting. Perhaps I would need a different remote?

VVT-i,
Have you ever had problems switching back to the NAV screen? Apparently my NAV screen is flickering - un watchable with a thick black bar going up and down. Looks like static or not a clear reception. Sometimes it comes through and sometimes not. However the TV tuner is working fine. Any clues?
Thanks.

Yes, I had this problem before and sometimes when I run over bump the screen color is change to red or green. I went to Radio Shacks and got some electrical connector cleaner. I cleaned both RGB cables and secure the PBN unit and the problem went away.
so what happen to them contacting the people that contacted him the first time a few months ago? aww...so i've been waiting on the email all this time when i could've been installing my joint!
I think they don't have any wiring diagram on Acura yet, unless you can come up with some diagram and e-mail them. They have to figure out the pins, connector and location of the components on the Acura. That's why right now you didn't heard anything from them yet.
Most of the people that received the kit is the GS and IS owners, because they're sure it will work. Or you can tell them that you don't care it will work or not and you just want the kit.

I ran a hot wire from the battery to the trunk and hooked up a power inverter so I can use a PS2. However, when the engine is on and the PS2 is playing a DVD, I can see lines running up and down the screen. When the power inverter is off the lines are gone. Any idea on how to solve this problem? Bye the way, the ground is hook up to the AMP bolts.
Any way of getting the background darker?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Other than using the brightness/contrast setup menu for both the GEX and navigaiton screens there isn't a screen adjustment dial or anything inside the GEX. What Pioneer Electronics has done is update the GEX-P7000TV in later (2001 and 2002) models with better output capacitors in the video circuit, but I wouldn't recommend changing yours (very difficult job) just for this reason. Instead I'd work on changing your PS2 power inverter or adding a 12 volt noise filter to it's inputs to block the AC type interference. Another option would be to remove the DC to AC power inverter all together and get the PS2 to run on 12volts DC. From what I've read you need to put a 12 volt regulator (like a LM7812) inside the PS2 power supply section and requires knowledge of power supply circuits.
Also as a side note - try changing your GND wire from the GEX box and navi conversion kit to a GND on the navigaiton monitor housing OR directly to the video GND wire from the navigation ECU to the Monitor.
Let me know how it goes.
P.S. It's not my navi conversion kit, but I'm always willing to help out.

I have a power inverter for my PS and it works fine, but i can give u another piece of advice rather than VideoNavi's. They sell a a converter for the PS2. its real small and connects directly to your cigaret lighter. it was made for the PS2. they sell them in those game stores in the mall or wherever. try that. (i didnt get to take a good look at it, so im not sure if it is also just a power inverter as well) but give it a shot
I have an IS and I am having a problem installing my Video-Nav, I have installed the GEX unit along with the PBA-N1 and I am not receiving any signal for an input. I checked the wiring multiple times, and I used a multi-tester to check for power, both ACC and 12v. I am not sure why there is not a video signal going to the screen. I have the 12 prong connector going to the nav ecu and the 10 going to the screen. I am just not sure what the problem is. Any easy things I can check that may be wrong? Thanks!!

I am trying that right now, thanks for the reply man. Can you tell me, does it matter if the wires are spliced before or after the white connector box? The connection between the nav ecu and the multi unit display? Or does the connection need to be between the Nav ecu and the white connector box? I am going to check the groung right now. Also, for the blue wires, did you connect them to the wire that had tape around it but underneath it is bare? I did not soldier it yet, I wanted to check it for full use first.

Ground connections are good, tested with the multi-tester also. I get a white screen after starting the car and sitting for a couple of mins. with nothing being sent to it, not sure why. I know it is not the reception because I can not get a menu screen to appear.
My main question now is if the blue wires are supposed to be hooked up to the bare silver wires covered with electrical tape now, the wire diagram shows it as a gray wire, but the IS does not have a gray wire where the diagram places it. Any other ideas? Thanks!!
