Default sl65 or sc65 speakers

Hi guys you all have been helping me alot lately i just have another question you all told me to go with the boston ac sl65 speakers for my rear doors i have a 01 gs300 with a 200w head unit 50x4. The specs say they need 60w each is it ok to go with them or should i go with the sc65 speakers witch are 50w each?

The 60w and 50w you are referring to is RMS (or Root Mean Square). It is a term, when applied to "power handling", that shows the amount of power a speaker can see continously over a period of time without failing.

You head unit that says "50x4".......Don't believe it. That is a max output power figure. Its probably supplying about 15w a channel with a 4 ohm load on each channel.

I would recommend the sl65 AND add a 4 channel amp supplying about 125w per channel @ 4ohms.

And even at the 15 watts, significantly more distortion and much less channel separation than an outboard dedicated amp.

Both speakers are decent with the SL's being the slightly better of the two. But simply upgrading the drivers is akin to pouring perfume on a turd. While it may not smell as bad it can certainly smell better.

By not adding external amplification the gains you get will be noticable but nowhere near what they could be.
